the time has come, we’re about to start our The Raven Cycle read-along tomorrow. :)
I hope you’re all as excited as I am and ready to talk about everything that is Raven Boys. ♥

No, not really. I need Adam to reciprocate like yesterday, while I know at the same time that he has so much else going on right now. I'm sure they would be good for each other though!
Like, Gansey and Blue talk about how they grew up loved and Adam never had it, and I don't think he ever felt wanted in his life, just for being himself. He seems to think he'll have to achieve things, become a "better" Adam so he'll be worth something, so he'll deserve people caring about him. And he thinks he has to do all of it by himself because he's always had to rely on himself for everything.
And Ronan just goes and helps him nevertheless, paying part of his rent, but he understands how Adam can't just accept it and makes sure to give him plausible deniability because he knows how Adam works somehow while Gansey and Blue still struggle with it, and it's perfect and I need more of them.
Sorry, that got rambly fast.

Date: 2016-03-04 01:47 pm (UTC)I agree completely. It actually made me really sad when they came to realise that Adam was never truly loved before. Somehow it made me sad that it took them so long to understand why he is the way he is because he doesn't know what it's like to be loved and rely on other people.

Date: 2016-03-05 12:51 pm (UTC)I have a massive soft spot for Kavinsky, even though I know he is a terrible horrible person. The implications that he might have killed his father, that he dreams people into being his servants and playthings, that he supports his mother's drug addiction. He is a sadist, a bully and a possible rapist - these are all the things that should make any one run away screaming NO - and yet. Even Maggie admits to liking him.
If you haven't had a chance to read her pretty lengthy tribute to the dichotomy that is Kavinsky/Lynch in Dream Thieves it is totally worth finding.
(Sorry for the lengthy ramble! I just really love talking about this boy! <3)

Date: 2016-03-04 10:34 am (UTC)It's pretty obvious Declan was jealous that Ronan inherited Niall's powers and he was the odd one out, but surely that can't be enough. Ronan keeps stressing that Declan is a liar, while he never lies - surely there's something more behind that.
I keep thinking that it must have something to do with Niall's death. We know Ronan found him, maybe Declan blamed him in some way?

Date: 2016-03-04 01:53 pm (UTC)Do you think that Declan knows that Ronan isn’t/wasn’t aware of what he can do, yet? Probably, right? Cause he just always tells him to be careful and Ronan seems to not understand why cause he didn’t know by then.
I was thinking about that, too, that Declan blames Ronan for Niall’s death but it would be, IDK, too easy? But maybe I just think there must be more to it than only blaming him.

Date: 2016-03-04 10:45 am (UTC)Until Persephone teaches him that he's given part of himself to Cabeswater, but not everything (I didn't agree to give my thoughts away. He would be Cabeswater's hands and Cabeswater's eyes, but he wouldn't be Cabeswater. He would be Adam Parrish.).
And it makes sense in a way, because it must be fucking scary to give up control over yourself like this, when it's only ever been you on your own. (Until that posh bloke showed up and took you on as a project anyway)

Date: 2016-03-04 10:51 am (UTC)When Adam meets her when Persephone shows him how to deal with his sacrifice to Cabeswater, he notices how she reminds him of Persephone herself and then she tells him the others wouldn't understand "They didn't when I came back."
Does that mean the dream girl might really be a young Persephone? What with time not being linear and all, wouldn't it be possible? She's also always described as ghostly or otherworldly.

Date: 2016-03-04 10:56 am (UTC)It's clear that time isn't linear on the ley line so the Camaro wheel they fish out of the lake is old, while at the same time it's most likely still operating in the gang's time. Calla says HE is not alone when he abandons it.
Are we sure that he = Gansey? Could it also refer to Ronan crashing the original Camaro? He was with Kavinsky when he left the wreck behind.
All this timey-whimey stuff is giving me a headache. XD

I haven't really figured that scene out yet - I mean I don't know yet what's so important about that finding that wheel on the bottom of the lake. It's definitely a creepy timey whimey stuff, yep.

It just strikes me as odd that he's taken to the hospital that once and then everyone just accepts it as such and never really talks about it.
(Yeah, this is probably just me constantly being mystified by the US health care system or the lack thereof.)

Adam has no where near enough money to barely support himself working 3 jobs, he definitely will not have money for very expensive medical costs or hearing devices (which I doubt he would submit to wearing as it would be a sign of weakness and Adam is anything but weak). He comes from poor, rural Virginia. He would have received basic care in the a&e and been sent home so long as the testing was ok (IE: no brain injury)
